WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM?

In August 2003 the Dixon Community Education Foundation (DCEF) was established with generous donations from community businesses, organizations and individuals.

Since then DCEF has worked to build up financial resources through a series of fundraisers, large and small, always relying on community support.

Most successful have been the two concerts performed by a local chorus and the well-known Phirehouse Philharmonics.  The evenings, called Showbiz and Showbiz II successively have been instrumental in allowing DCEF to grant teachers’ requests.  The evening of good food and drink, both live and silent auctions and a concert of Broadway show tunes has become a Dixon favorite.  Mark March 10, 2007 on the calendar for Showbiz III in Denverton Hall at the Dixon May Fairgrounds.

DCEF has also been a major recipient of the first three annual Walk for Education events.  The August walk and fun run, provides a welcome contribution to fundraising efforts.

Currently DCEF is sponsoring the New Dixon High School Engraved Bricks project.

For $100 individuals and families can have one, two or three line names or messages engraved on courtyard pavers at the new Dixon High School.  This once in a lifetime opportunity will memorialize Dixonites and former Dixonites while assuring the continuation of enhanced educational opportunities for current Dixon students.
